Park directly outside your hotel room: what’s generally only possible on the ground floor is now offered on a large scale at hotel b’mine Frankfurt Airport. In 40 out of the hotel’s 241 rooms, guests can reach their CarLoft hassle-free via a CarLift, park their car in their CarLoggia and conveniently charge it during their stay. This is just one of the many facilities offered by the award-winning hotel concept. The interior was designed by GEPLAN DESIGN from Stuttgart using high-quality furniture from Rolf Benz.
Surrounded by motorways and the airport in the new Gateway Gardens district, b’mine Frankfurt Airport is offering international travellers a temporary home over twelve floors. The unique cocooning rooms conceived from the inside out are designed to offer the perfect way to relax, with 40 CarLofts and a SkyLoft on the thirteenth floor as particular highlights.
The b’mine hotel offers every comfort in its open areas to ensure working nomads can relax: a hotel lobby with a co-working space, wellness area and sauna, several event spaces providing the opportunity for car presentations and THE ROOF restaurant & bar with a lounge and terrace. Interiors from Rolf Benz are used in the CarLofts and in almost all communal areas, creating a puristic, carefully zoned ambience with a soothing colour concept.
“Nothing but wunderbar” as they say at Rolf Benz. The company has been producing beautiful and high-quality designer furniture with a forward-looking perspective (another trait of the b’mine hotel) in the Black Forest since 1964.
b’mine Frankfurt Airport is the first hotel of its type with more due to follow. Young international business travellers in particular were identified as the target group for this pioneering concept. Matthias Beinlich, Managing Director of the b’mine hotels: “Feeling good is a big deal for our guests, as are spacious public areas that are comfortable and give them the opportunity to discuss information in spontaneous meetings.”
On the basis of these findings, GEPLAN DESIGN worked closely with b’mine to develop the interior design and select furnishings. They established which seat heights promote communication and planned the hotel’s colours, materials and furnishings in a way that allows guests to easily organise themselves, openly exchange information and ideas and to relax and regenerate, even on short stopovers.
Cord Glantz, Managing Director of GEPLAN DESIGN, on working with Rolf Benz. “We were looking for a brand that fits in with our target group and is also familiar to them. With their high level of sustainable quality, sense of what’s important and a love of detail, Rolf Benz and b’mine are the perfect match. Furthermore, as a manufacturer, Rolf Benz was able to respond extremely flexibly to our requirements.”
“No single item of furniture is off the shelf,” confirms Brian Therkelsen, Head of Contract Rolf Benz. “Together with the GEPLAN DESIGN team, we painstakingly worked through each individual area with great attention to detail. We chose special covers for almost all of the upholstered furniture in b’mine and made the sofa legs from real walnut wood.”
Olivia Dumire-Herold, Project Management Contract at Rolf Benz, is also pleased with the result: “Despite its initially busy location, the hotel welcomes you with an inviting warmth and a pleasant calmness,” she says. “It’s a place between two worlds. At the same time, every single square centimetre is clearly used and allocated, no space is wasted.”
Ramona Oudille, Area Sales Manager for Southern Germany at Rolf Benz, played a key role in the project and thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration: “b’mine Frankfurt Airport is one of those special projects that allowed us to share the Rolf Benz Contract knowledge that we are so passionate about. The first time our teams met in the Rolf Benz showroom in Nagold in December 2020, we were struck by a sense of openness and trust. Each piece of furniture, whether that’s an armchair, chair or sofa, was tested and selected by Matthias Beinlich. After one and a half years of working together intensively, the hotel is now open. We were all stunned by the result.”
The designers staged the bed as the central place to rest in all of the hotel rooms. It can be curtained off from the living area, creating a sense of security. The CarLofts have a spacious and elegant atmosphere that is wonderfully relaxed. This is where the freistil 136 sofa with its large seat depth allows guests to chill out in their own way, while the iconic freistil 173 armchair adds a tongue-in-cheek charm to the space.
The reception area offers guests a unique interior design that breaks away from uniformity. A modular version of the freistil 141 sofa with a special fold design was designed for the b’mine entrance area. Together with the slightly raised Rolf Benz 562 club chair, the Rolf Benz 641 chair and other selected designer pieces, it creates comfortable and cosmopolitan combinations whilst highlighting furniture that is made in Germany at the same time.
THE ROOF restaurant & bar on the twelfth floor was designed as a very special place for both hotel guests and locals to enjoy top-class cuisine with a view of the skyline and airport. This elevated location has a sophisticated design in grey, brown and warm golden tones. Alongside the Rolf Benz 562 club chair and the freistil 141 sofa, the skilfully handcrafted freistil 136 lounge sofa and Rolf Benz bar furniture can also be found there.
Another high spot is the roof terrace, where armchairs and chairs from the Italian and French-inspired Outdoor collection Rolf Benz YOKO by Toan Nguyen perfectly accentuate the view of the Frankfurt sky.
The Rolf Benz Contract team congratulates GEPLAN DESIGN Stuttgart and b’mine hotels on this special place that they have created between two worlds and hopes that the guests come flying in!
Rolf Benz and b’mine simply go together well. High quality. An appreciation of those fundamental things and a love of details.
